The next meeting of the Ectocarpus consortium - A decade of algal genomics - will be held at Ghent University in April 7-9, 2010. The meeting will coincide approximately with the release of the assembled Ectocarpus genome and the publication of the accompanying papers. Previous meetings have served as a forum for researchers working on Ectocarpus or by extension brown algae to present their ongoing research. For the upcoming meeting we are broadening up the perspective towards algal genomics in general.

Confirmed speakers :

  • Mark Cock (Station Biologique, Roscoff)
  • Pierre Rouzé (Ghent University / VIB)
  • Yves Van de Peer (Ghent University / VIB)
  • Gareth Pearson (Centro de Ciencias do Mar, Faro)
  • Taizo Motomura (Hokkaido University, Japan)

  • Sessions will include presentations providing an overview and update of :

  • organism and cell biology
  • environmental genomics
  • comparative genomics
  • systematics / phylogenomics

  • Full participation at the conference
  • Lunches at the conference site and congress diner
  • Tea and coffee breaks

In order to finalise the scientific programme, contributors should complete and return their abstract by March 7, 2010. Please indicate whether you are offering an oral or poster presentation. Offered oral presentations should be planned to last 15 min with 5 min for questions. Presenters should bring their presentations on a memory stick (not CD), in a PC compatible form, ensuring that the file is clearly labelled with their name.
